Production stop of important painkiller

Following the production stop of a key painkiller for children with cancer by the company Mundipharma, Childhood Cancer Switzerland has been working intensively at federal level to draw the attention of politicians and the public to the dire situation. Our two awareness campaigns on this issue in December 2020 and February 2021 were widely supported in the media and the issue was highlighted publicly. On 17 March 2021, the paediatric oncologist Eva Maria Tinner (MD) and the CEO of Childhood Cancer Switzerland Valérie Braidi-Ketter were invited to take part in a roundtable discussion by Mundipharma. The negotiations with the CEO and his team focused on the conditions necessary for a resumption of drug production as well as alternative solutions so that children do not have to suffer unnecessarily in the meantime.
