Christmas comes in summer, too

Since 2012, Sandro Wyss and Marc Binggeli, alias “Samichlous & Schmutzli”, have been giving children with cancer magical moments during Advent, helping them forget their serious illness for a few brief moments. What started off as a spontaneous performance on St. Nicholas Day has since developed into an association that visits sick and healthy children every year around 6 December and also collects donations. In 2022, they managed to raise a total of CHF 34,000 which “Samichlous & Schmutzli” donated to the umbrella organisation Childhood Cancer Switzerland and its member organisation Childhood Cancer Aid Switzerland.

With a donation of 10,000 Swiss francs, which was officially handed over on 11 June 2023, Childhood Cancer Switzerland is supporting important projects in the field of follow-up care. Because cured does not automatically mean healthy. About 80 per cent of all former childhood cancer patients, the survivors, suffer from the late effects of their illness and intensive therapy. To this end, the umbrella organisation established the only contact point for survivors and their families in Switzerland in 2017: it provides information, advice and competent support to those affected.

A big thank you to “Samichlous & Schmutzli” for their fantastic commitment to children with cancer and their families!
